The company structures its operations into five principal divisions: Wholesale, Retail, Lenses and Optical Instruments, Equipment, and Sunglasses and Readers. The Wholesale segment focuses on the manufacturing and distribution of premium and athletic eyewear to other businesses. The Retail segment manages direct-to-consumer sales of these luxury and sports eyewear products. The Lenses and Optical Instruments division provides advanced corrective lenses, such as its Varilux progressive lenses, Crizal anti-reflective and anti-smudge coatings, Transitions photochromic technology (including the Gen 8 series), and Eyezen lenses optimized for digital screen users. It also supplies Xperio polarized sun lenses and licenses popular brands like Nikon and Kodak for corrective lenses. Additionally, this segment offers specialized machinery for lens edging and mounting, and various optometry instruments for eye care professionals, educational institutions, and other organizations. It also develops digital solutions to facilitate online optical product sales. The Equipment segment delivers cutting-edge digital surfacing and lens coating machines to prescription laboratories, integrated optical retail chains, and lens manufacturers. Finally, the Sunglasses and Readers segment offers a wide array of non-prescription sun protection and reading glasses. This includes house brands like Foster Grant, Magnivision, and Gargoyles, as well as licensed names such as Reebok, Steve Madden, and Disney, among many others. Supporting its operations, EssilorLuxottica maintains an extensive network of 490 prescription laboratories and lens finishing facilities. The company, which was originally established in 1849, previously operated under the name Essilor International Société Anonyme before rebranding to EssilorLuxottica Société anonyme in October 2018. Its global headquarters are situated in Paris, France.
