Its operations are structured across four distinct divisions: Home Health, Hospice, Personal Care, and High Acuity Care. The Home Health segment furnishes a diverse array of services provided within individuals' residences. These services support patients in their recovery from surgeries, chronic ailments, or serious illnesses, and also aim to minimize preventable hospital readmissions. This is achieved through its team of proficient nurses, rehabilitation therapists specializing in physical, speech, and occupational therapy, as well as social workers and care assistants who support patients. The Hospice division is dedicated to offering comfort and empathetic support to those facing a terminal illness, encompassing conditions like cancer, heart disease, pulmonary disease, or Alzheimer's. Within the Personal Care segment, patients receive assistance with their routine daily activities. Finally, the High Acuity Care segment extends crucial elements of inpatient hospital care, skilled nursing facility services, and palliative care directly to patients within their own homes. As of December 31, 2021, the company maintained a network comprising 331 home health centers, 175 hospice care centers, 14 personal-care facilities, and 8 high acuity care centers. These facilities are situated across 38 states in the U.S. and the District of Columbia. Amedisys, Inc. was established in 1982 and its principal executive offices are located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
