Finally, the Renewables and New Business segment is dedicated to developing solar and wind power generation projects in Portugal and Spain. This division also plays a role in producing advanced biofuels like biodiesel and green hydrogen. Additionally, Galp maintains an extensive network, operating 1,480 service stations and 1,186 electric vehicle charging points. Beyond its core energy activities, the company also participates in the reinsurance sector. Galp Energia, SGPS, S.A. was founded in 1999, adopting its current name in September 2000 after previously operating as Galp – Petróleos e Gás de Portugal, SGPS, S.A.
