Its operations are organized into three principal divisions: Shipbuilding; Offshore and Specialized Vessels; and Equipment, Systems, and Infrastructure. The Shipbuilding division focuses on the design and construction of a diverse range of vessels, including luxury cruise liners and specialized expedition ships. It also manufactures an extensive array of naval vessels, such as aircraft carriers, destroyers, frigates, corvettes, patrol boats, amphibious assault ships, logistic support vessels, multirole craft, research vessels, other specialized ships, and submarines. This segment provides comprehensive product lifecycle management, alongside training and support services. Furthermore, it offers complete ship interior solutions, encompassing cabins, wet units, public areas, catering facilities, glazing, and overall interior design concepts. The division also performs extensive vessel maintenance services, including repairs, refitting, modifications, and general refurbishment. The Offshore and Specialized Vessels segment is dedicated to crafting advanced offshore support vessels specifically designed for both the burgeoning offshore wind farm industry and the established oil and gas sector. This division's portfolio additionally includes other specialized maritime craft, such as cable-laying vessels and various types of ferries, as well as the development of unmanned vessel technologies. Fincantieri's Equipment, Systems, and Infrastructure division delivers a broad spectrum of offerings. These include sophisticated energy generation and storage systems, such as integrated electrical, electronic, and electromechanical solutions, in addition to entertainment systems. It also provides critical vessel components like stabilization, propulsion, positioning, and power generation systems, including steam turbines. This segment excels in designing and integrating systems with a strong emphasis on automation, cybersecurity, telecommunications, and critical infrastructure solutions. Beyond its marine applications, this division undertakes the design, construction, and assembly of substantial steel structures for major infrastructure projects, spanning bridges, viaducts, airports, port facilities, maritime and hydraulic engineering works, and extensive commercial and industrial complexes. Furthermore, Fincantieri extends its expertise to a variety of supplementary services. These comprise comprehensive dry-dock management, robust engineering, project, and supply chain management, as well as information technology consulting. The company also handles the sale and post-sale support for mechanical products, offers maintenance for marine diesel engines, and engages in technological research and development. Ancillary offerings encompass ship accommodation services and the chartering of various marine vessels, such as boats, ships, and barges. Established in 1959, Fincantieri S.p.A. maintains its headquarters in Trieste, Italy, and functions as a subsidiary of CDP Equity S.p.A.
