Beyond its core function of generating and transmitting electricity, J-POWER is involved in producing various fuels, including wood and other biomass. The company also plays a significant role in the coal supply chain, encompassing investment, import, transportation, and sales of coal, in addition to selling fly ash and sourcing forest offcuts. Its diverse activities further include manufacturing and distributing fertilizers, supplying activated coke, and managing a range of facilities such as welfare centers, wood pellet production plants, and nuclear power plants. Furthermore, J-POWER operates and maintains telecommunication and waste-fueled power generation facilities, along with constructing and upholding electronic and communication infrastructure. In terms of logistics, the company provides ocean transport services for coal, supporting its thermal power operations, and for ash and fly ash. Its wide array of services also covers environmental conservation research, planning, and analysis; site surveying and compensation for construction projects; investment management and research and development for new ventures; facility maintenance; business process outsourcing; and computer software development. Additionally, J-POWER offers comprehensive civil engineering, construction management, and related services, alongside specialized engineering solutions for removing atmospheric and water pollutants. Consulting forms another part of its business portfolio. J-POWER commands a substantial infrastructure, featuring 60 hydroelectric power plants that collectively generate 8,560 MW, 13 thermal power facilities with a total output of 9,200 MW, 21 wind power installations producing 500 MW, and a geothermal facility contributing 23 MW. Its robust transmission network includes 2,410.1 kilometers of power lines and 9 substations and converter stations. Internationally, the company extends its reach by operating 33 power generation facilities in countries like Thailand, the United States, and China, adding a combined capacity of 6,523 MW to its global footprint. Established in 1952, Electric Power Development Co., Ltd. maintains its headquarters in Tokyo, Japan.
